Burnley at Hull City Odds and Preview

There is plenty of action in the Sportsbook this month to keep busy all sorts of fans. Hockey and Basketball wind down the regular season and as the playoffs near, there is plenty of NBA betting and NHL betting action to be had. Moreover, one of the biggest golfing events of the year takes place this weekend, and for enthusiasts there are Masters odds available, with the returning Tiger Woods as the favourite.

Still yet, there is soccer action across the pond in the English Premiership.  Last week showcased an exciting match up between two teams battling for the top spot in the table. This week features an equally intriguing game between teams struggling with disappointing season.

Burnley visits Hull City at Kingston Communications Stadium as the clubs sit three points apart in the relegation zone in the second and third last positions in the table.  Both teams are desperate for points as the season approaches the end, and both are looking to eclipse West Ham United, a club with 28 points and just safely outside the zone for the moment.  A road win this weekend would earn Burnley 27 points and put them in a tie with Hull City with one extra win.

Burnley is coming off an embarrassing 6-1 home trouncing by Manchester City, a team that Burnley drew earlier in the season on the road.  It is the only point Burnley has earned away from home all season, losing 15 of 16 matches.  The latest match against City was also embarrassing for Kevin MacDonald, as the player left the field at halftime after Burnley had a 5-0 deficit.  MacDonald was substituted and reports have suggested the 21-year left for the pub. MacDonald will be in the lineup for the game against Hull City, says manager Brian Laws.

The Tigers have fared little better of late, losing 2-0 to Stoke City. They have, however, won their latest home match and despite their poor standing, have only lost four games at home.  In their previous match this season at Burnley, the Clarets beat the Tigers 2-0.

Betting lines:  Hull City is the heavy favourite playing at home in this match and rightly so. They have been mediocre all season at home, but Burnley, meanwhile, has been abysmal on the road earning a mere one point in 16 matches. However, playing a team they have had success against this season and one that has had similar troubles, anything is possible this weekend. The Clarets have the potential to play well, and they are desperate for points. While it may be near improbable for them to steal a road win, they should be able to secure a draw to keep them competitive as the season winds down. The over/under is at 2.5, and with both teams struggling on defense, and likely to play less cautious, take the over in the match and look for a 2-2 draw.
