Rapid had a good start of season with a 2-0 convincing victory against strong Vaslui, and a 0-0 on Urziceni’s field, last year vice-champions. They made good transfers this summer (Sburlea, Roman, Rui Duarte, Glauber) but the best “transfer” is their new manager, Sumudica, young coach (ex Rapid player, he was like a legend). Atmosphere is great, Sumudica has personality, he knows how to motivate his players.
Otelul is an average team IMO, they have nothing special. But, with 6 points in first two games, we could say they started well the season, although they didn’t played agains hard opponents. Now, their task is almost imposible, Dorinel Munteanu will field a defenive formation with 2 defensive midfielders and only one striker. It will be very difficult for them to resist, Rapid is the kind of team that attack continuously with al players and their fans offers them greate support whatever the score is.
Interesting H2h: in 6 of last 7 meetings between them on Giulesti (Rapid Stadium), host managed to beat Otelul by more than a goal.
